What are Child Safety Kits? Should you get one? Where do you get one?
Free child safety kits can be requested at http://www.childsafekit.com/. These kits contain:

o An organizer to record your child's name, address, birthdate, allergies, including any birthmarks or other identifying features that will help authorities identify your child.

o an inking strip to fingerprint your child which will help officials identify them more quickly

o an up-to-date photo of your child to help officials accurately identify them

Some kits also contain freezable DNA packages and/or impressions for your child’s bite marks.

Know your child well. This may sound obvious, but be extremely observant of his or her birthmarks, scars, or other distinguishing features, these may help authorities identify your child without having to approach the child and reveal themselves to the attacker.

Safety Bracelets:

A good defense to give your child is a bracelet equipped with a whistle. These bracelets are inexpensive, and the whistle is concealed into the buckle unlike many other types of whistle equipped bracelets. This is important because the attacker will not know your child has the whistle until they use it. However, it is important to make it very clear to your child that this bracelet is not a toy, and that it should be used only in emergency situations. The hidden whistle should not be shown to people because you cannot judge who is and isn’t a possible attacker; most often the attacker will be someone your child knows. That being said, practice using the bracelet with your child when no one else is around so that your child is comfortable using the bracelet, and can access it quickly.
